Ford Field - Detroit, Michigan - December 15 2002
After almost five years, thousands of miles by air, by car, and even
by bus, after all the great games, the dull games, the happy
moments, the travel disasters, the adventures, so many new
friends, it all came to an exciting end at Ford Field in Detroit. With
our families in tow, we planted the USRT flag for the 121st time and
celebrated an accomplishment which is without peer! Here are a
few pictures of the occasion. Click on any to enlarge and enjoy.
Ford Field's main atrium entrance awaits the arrival of
the Ultimate Sports Road Trip.
Stoney Creek Brewing Company was the scene for
the celebration dinner the night before the game, and
management surprised us with this marquee in the
lobby.
The Kulyks and the Farrells all join in for the group
shot outside Ford Field in Detroit. The "official"
banner was commissioned especially for the event.
The family gets in on the act in the Ford Field atrium
as Fox news channel 2 films away for a news feature
on the Ultimate Sports Road Trip.
That's Charles Pugh from Fox channel 2 talking to the
guys about the journey.
The Detroit Lions give the USRT the scoreboard
salute. What a great tribute!
For the last time, Andrew check marks the Lions in
"the good book", a ritual which goes back to the tours
humble beginnings. 121 teams... DONE!
