NCAA Basketball

University at Buffalo
(MAC)
Alumni Arena

Located on UB's north campus, Alumni Arena has recently been
upgraded with new lighting, scoreboards and chairback seating to
add to the atmosphere. Still a brutal looking structure from outside.

Canisius College
(MAAC)
Koessler Center

Pretty much your oversized college gymnasium right on the
Canisius College campus in the middle of the city of Buffalo, the
program plays in the small conference MAAC where giant arenas
aren't the norm

University of California - Berkeley
(PAC-10)
Haas Pavilion

They play two anthems here, the Star Spangled Banner, and then
Hail to California. This building was opened as a small
gymnasium and expanded and renovated several times to bring it
to its capaciity of over 11,000 seats.

University of Hawaii
(WAC)
Stan Sheriff Center

Only a hard core sports travel enthusiast would do a basketball
game on a Hawaii vacation. The Stan Sheriff Center is pretty
electric when it comes to its "Straight Out Of Manoa" crowds.
Tropical drinks on the menu, the building opened in 1994.

Providence College
(Big East)
Dunkin' Donuts Center

They share the arena with the AHL Providence Bruins, a gleaming
and shiny building in downtown Providence with plenty of
attractions nearby. The building gets pretty loud and enthusiastic,
especially when a Big East opponent comes to town.

Wake Forest University
(ACC)
Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum

When you live in the shadows of neighbors such as Duke and
North Carolina, it's hard to get attention and affection for your team
and your program. Wake Forest is still a place worth checking out,
with a large and very comfortable arena with great fan amenities.

North Carolina State University
(ACC)
PNC Arena

When the team moved from the old and creaky Reynolds Coliseum
many fans were apprehensive that the traditions of old place
wouldn't come along. When this arena is full of fans the place is
electric. Catch a game over the holidays or against a mediocre
opponent and it's empty and cavernous.

University of Binghamton
(America East)
Binghamton Events Center

It's a newish building, and serves a multi purpose of dfferent
sports, but replicates the basketball experience very well in a clean
and modern venue. Plenty of places to catch food and drink in
nearby downtown Binghamton.

University of Florida
(SEC)
Stephen O'Connell Center

Right down the street from their football venue "The Swamp", the
O-Center has been named as one of the most intimidating places
to play in the country, with a tight seat bowl and over 11,000
capacity, and fans practically spilling out onto the court.

University of Central Florida
(AAC)
CFE Arena
Opened in 2007, the arena is affectionately known as "The
Dungeon", but in actuality looks like a shiny and clean place on a
sparkling and gleaming college campus, with a college town vibe -
stores, bookshops, cafes and restaurants in the neighborhood and
adjacent to the arena. Despite the relative newness of the building,
seating is almost on top of the court.

St. Bonaventure University
(Atlantic 10)
Reilly Center

The Bonaventure campus in Olean is about as out of the way as
one can get, a pretty campus straddling the southern border in
upstate New York. The Reilly Center is somewhat big, but still has
an old high school gymnasium feel to the place.

Niagara University
(MAAC)
Gallagher Center

It's an intimate, gymnasium style venue on the sprawling campus
of Niagara University, not far from the Canadian border and a bit of
a ways from Niagara Falls. Typical small program building
attached to student centers, corridors with trophies. The Purple
Eagles have had some success in MAAC conference play.

Penn State University
(Big Ten)
Bryce Jordan Center

This big arena is another piece of a sports complex on the
sprawling Penn State Campus, adjacent to football's Beaver
Stadium and the new Pegula Ice Arena. Basketball at Penn State is
an orphan program compared to the more popular football.

University of South Florida
(Big East)
Sundome

Until major league sports came to the Tampa Bay area, this was
the place as far as not only basketball was concerned, but also big
time concerts and events. The USF Sundome still serves as a host
venue for the big shows, and a recent renovation will keep the
basketball program here for years to come.

University of San Francisco
(WCC)
War Memorial Gymnasium

Three things get your attention - the program actually won NCAA
titles in the 50s before that was a huge thing; Bill Russell is the
most famous basketball alum, and they segregate chairback
seating from general admission bench seating and don't even try
to upgrade.

UCLA
(Pac 12)
Pauley Pavilion

The minute you step into Pauley Pavilion you can feel the history
and tradition. John Wooden coached here, his mark and legacy
can be flt everywhere. It's one of the most beloved college venues
in all of sports. And a recent remake of the building makes it one of
the most opulent in the land.

Long Beach State
(Big West)
Walter Pyramid

Always cool going to a game inside a pyramid. The high roof is one
distinctive feature of the arena, which can actually be seen from the
beach on the Pacific Ocean. Despite the cavernous seating bowl,
the 4000 seat arena really does pull it off as being intimate, and
loud.

UM - Kansas City
(WAC)
Municipal Auditorium

This place is worth the visit, just to experience an old school,
elegant venue with its distinctive tile flooring, art deco displays, and
lighting pieces from another day. The program attracts scant fan
support, so don't expect much energy in the game itself.

University of Southern California
(Pac 12)
Galen Center

Prior to the opening of this arena in 2006, the USC Trojans played
in a number of different venues, including the old LA Sports Arena
across the street in Exposition Park. The building has integrated
nicely with the sprawling USC campus in central Los Angeles.
  FORMER VENUES

UNC - Greensboro
(Southern)
Fleming Gymnasium

The on campus home of the UNC Greensboro Spartans still serves
as home for the women's basketball team and other sports such as
wrestling, but the mens basketball team has since moved to the
larger Greensboro Coliseum in the city.
